David Miller, Greensburg C.C.

This past week: Miller had 213 yards rushing and scored three touchdowns in the Centurions' 35-6 first-round playoff victory against Freeport.

Check this out: A 5-foot-10, 210-pound senior running back, Miller earned the WPIAL regular-season scoring title for the second year in a row. Miller scored 27 touchdowns and one 2-point conversion for 164 points. Last year, he had 200 points in the regular season.

How does it feel to earn a second consecutive WPIAL scoring title? It feels great, but I have to give most of the credit to the offensive line and the fullback. We've had pretty much the same offensive line for the past two years.

Why do you wear No. 34? When I was a kid, I liked Ricky Williams a lot. So I copied his number when I was younger. I started wearing it in midget league, and I just kept wearing it.

Who is your favorite professional athlete? Probably (Jacksonville Jaguars running back) Maurice Jones-Drew. He's kind of built like me a little bit -- short and stocky.

If you could spend the day with any Steelers player, who would it be? I'd have to say Hines Ward because he seems like a nice guy. From everything I hear, he seems pretty down to earth.

What food do you eat after a big game? Pizza and wings.

What are your plans for the future? I have no idea. I'm probably going to play football in college. I just don't know where yet.

People would be surprised to know that ... I'm a Pokemaniac. I still play Pokemon all the time, even in school. I got my first Pokemon game when I was younger, probably 5 or 6.

Joelle Kissell, Latrobe

This past week: Kissell won the PIAA Class AAA girls' tennis singles championship Saturday in Hershey, beating defending champion Tessa Lyons of Strath Haven, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Check this out: One of the top seniors in the Northeast, Kissell will soon choose from a list of scholarship offers that includes North Carolina State, LSU and Marshall. Kissell won the WPIAL Class AAA singles championship her junior season, and earned WPIAL and PIAA Class AAA doubles championships as a freshman.

A family racquet: Kissell's sister, Michaela, a junior at Marshall, was a three-time WPIAL and PIAA Class AAA singles champion. A younger sister, Stacia, is a standout sophomore at Latrobe.

What did you do to celebrate the win? We all went to Hoss's. It was fun. We were all just hanging out and having a good time.

What do you plan on doing with your gold medal? I don't know. Probably put it in my drawer.

Who's the best player you've ever played against? My sister, Michaela. We had to play in the quarterfinals of this tournament once. I got my butt whooped. She was awesome.

Have you ever beaten her? No. Not even a set.

What was the most exciting thing you did on your college visits? I got to see the LSU-Florida [football] game. There were so many people there. It was ridiculous.

What's your favorite restaurant? Panera Bread. I love their broccoli cheddar soup in a bread bowl. It's the best ever.

Since you live near Saint Vincent College, do you make it to Steelers training camp often? I've been there a couple of times. Last summer we had some car trouble this one time, and we walked from our house to Steelers camp.
