Robinson, Washington County, establishes $52 tax on workers
Wednesday, November 11, 2009

Starting next year, people employed within Robinson in Washington County and earning more than $12,000 a year must pay the $52 Local Services Tax.

Supervisors Brian Coppola, Gerald Runtas and George Lucchino last night approved an ordinance implementing the tax. Mr. Coppola, the chairman, said it will be the first time the township has collected an occupational tax.

"Instead of placing another tax burden on the residents, we thought the people working here should contribute to the township services," Mr. Coppola said.

He said the township will not know how much money the tax will generate until after the first year of collection.
