A Lawrence County family safely fled from a fire Monday night that destroyed their home in Scott.
The fire caused between $250,000 and $300,000 in damage, fire Chief Jack Hitchen said.
A teenager told investigators he spotted flames from the integral, two-car garage as he drove along Grange Hall Road in the township, Chief Hitchen said.
The occupants of the house, three adults and three children, said they heard their doorbell and smoke alarms before they heard loud explosions.
They all had been asleep when the blaze was reported at 9:27 p.m.
The fire apparently started in the garage and quickly spread to the house, Chief Hitchen said.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is not suspicious, although fire officials still are investigating what started it.
