Bridgeville borough council has decided to seek a new police chief from within the department to replace former Chief Edward Bogats Jr., who resigned in May.
There are four candidates for the vacant post, said councilman Michael Chiodo, chairman of the borough's public safety committee.
The candidates in the running are Sgt. Gary James, Officer Matt Haley, Officer Chris Manolakos and Officer Chad King.
"All four candidates are highly qualified and respected officers," Mr. Chiodo said at last night's meeting.
The borough is still in the process of interviewing the candidates. Mr. Chiodo said council would like to have its recommendation ready by Nov. 24 to pass on to the Civil Service Commission.
