A Bedford County man was killed when his ultralight aircraft hit a tree yesterday.

State police said Helmut K. Neubrand, 68, of Clearville, was flying the ultralight near Ragged Mountain Road in Southampton, Bedford County, when he struck a tree at 4:15 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
