A soldier from the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia was killed last week in Afghanistan.
The Department of Defense announced that Spc. Julian L. Berisford, 25, of Benwood, which is south of Wheeling, Wednesday in Paktika province, Afghanistan. His unit was attacked with small arms and rocket-propelled grenades.
Spc. Berisford was assigned to Fort Richardson, Alaska.
