City police are investigating a shooting that occurred about 11:15 a.m. today.

A homicide detective said the incident occurred at the corner of Perrysville Avenue and North Charles Street on the North Side.

The victim was conscious and is expected to survive the gunshot wound to his head, the police said.

A jitney driver took the victim to a local hospital.

No other details were immediately available.
