5 hurt in Washington, Pa., crash

A driver and four passengers were injured when their vehicle crashed into a building early today in Washington County.

They were injured around 3:30 a.m. on Jefferson Avenue in Washington, police said.

The driver, Jean Henry Yandell, 31, of Washington, remained in UPMC Presbyterian, where he is in fair condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Passenger Alexis Gibson, 21, is in good condition at Presby, and Troy Patterson, 35, also a passenger, was treated and released.

Conditions were not available for passengers Dorothy Montano, 29, at Presby, and Rachel Ellis, 26, who was taken to Allegheny General Hospital.

Washington police still are investigating. Officers have not determined the cause of the crash.
