If you haven't visited or driven by the Carnegie Science Center on the North Shore lately, you might be surprised to see a large red building going up right next to it.
It's the Highmark SportsWorks exhibition, and it's slated to reopen Dec. 19, center officials announced yesterday.
The opening of the $5 million popular facility filled with interactive sports science exhibits has been delayed since September because of weather and other issues. The new building will feature three themed areas: Physics of Sports, LifeWorks, and Sports Challenge, each with educational experiences.
The original SportsWorks facility closed in April 2008 to make way for an extension of the light rail system.
