Palin's book tour to make a stop in Washington, Pa.
Thursday, November 05, 2009

Sarah Palin won't be making book tour stops in the usual big cities when her autobiography hits the shelves, but she is coming to Washington, Pa.

The Sam's Club on Trinity Point Drive will host the former governor of Alaska and 2008 Republican vice presidential hopeful on Nov. 21, according to the publisher. Ms. Palin's book, "Going Rogue: An American Life," is scheduled for publication by HarperCollins on Nov. 17.

"She wants to be unconventional. She is unconventional," HarperCollins spokeswoman Tina Andreadis said yesterday. "She feels like this is where her fans are and Harper feels this is where she'll sell the most books."

The tour starts Nov. 18 at a Barnes & Noble in Grand Rapids, Mich., where Ms. Palin and running mate Sen. John McCain made a campaign appearance last fall.

Other small-market stops on the three-week tour include Rochester, N.Y.; Columbus, Ohio; Cincinnati; Roanoke, Va.; Orlando, Fla.; Bloomington, Minn.; Noblesville, Ind.; Albuquerque, N.M., and the Army post in Fort Bragg, N.C.

According to the Associated Press, Ms. Palin will travel by bus for much of the tour, accompanied by family and aide Meg Stapleton.

The day before the book is released, Ms. Palin is scheduled to appear on "The Oprah Winfrey" show in Chicago.

Yesterday, ABC News announced that Barbara Walters would interview Ms. Palin. The interview will air in five parts over three ABC News broadcasts -- "Good Morning America," "Nightline" and "20/20," starting the morning of Nov. 17.

"Going Rogue" has an announced first printing of 1.5 million copies and has been at or near the top of Amazon.com's best-seller list for weeks.
