A year ago, the Moon supervisors voted 3-2 to deny Wal-Mart approval to build a 160,000-square-foot superstore in West Hills Plaza.
One week later, the supervisors reversed the vote to approve the development after caving in to the veiled threat of personal liability by their solicitor.
Wal-Mart has scrapped plans with Colony West Apartments for a shared access road off Brodhead Road. This change will cause gridlock by elimination of a previously proposed traffic light.
Also, a newly proposed access road now will be located very close to University Boulevard, severely impacting the turning-lane distance on Brodhead.
Under the new Wal-Mart traffic plan, there will be only one route to travel west on Brodhead. This will cause tremendous traffic and safety issues.
If you're concerned with this flawed traffic plan and maintaining our quality of life in our community, contact Moon supervisors. Ask them if they will protect the health, safety and welfare of the township citizens by insisting on a mixed-use development -- not suburban sprawl.
