Pirates pitcher Donnie Veal leads the Arizona Fall League with a 0.71 earned-run average.
Pirates left-hander Donnie Veal went 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in the Arizona Fall League last week and was named the league's pitcher of the week. In two starts with the Scottsdale Scorpions, he surrendered five hits and two walks while striking out seven batters in 7.2 innings of work. Veal currently leads Fall League starters with a 0.71 earned-run average (122/3 IP, 1 earned run), while ranking fifth overall in that department. He is also tied for the league lead with two wins, ranks second in opponent batting average (.159) and third in WHIP (0.71).
