A 19-year-old Turtle Creek man died last night after being shot in the head outside an abandoned house in McKeesport.

McKeesport police detective Capt. Bryan Washowich said the victim, identified by the medical examiner as Derrick Smith, was visiting relatives in the area of the 1600 block of Sixth Street shortly after 3 p.m. when he was hit by one of several shots fired by an assailant on foot. He died at UPMC Presbyterian.

Police last night were searching for the shooter, who fled south toward Shaw Avenue.
