Pa. getting $1.4 billion federal stimulus for education
Monday, November 02, 2009

The U.S. Department of Education today announced it has approved $1.4 billion in economic stimulus money for education in Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania is the last state to have its application for State Fiscal Stabilization Grant money approved. The delay was the result of the state budget being passed three months late.

The approval is for $1.4 billion, with the chance to apply for $514.4 million more later this fall.

Pennsylvania is counting on this money to help pay for basic education subsidies for elementary and secondary education as well as higher education.
