Get out and vote

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday for the general election.

After you vote, you can find Allegheny County results online Tuesday night at www.post-gazette.com and in print Wednesday in the Post-Gazette.

And we'll have Beaver County vote totals and stories about the key municipal and school board races next Thursday in West.

Election day bake sale

The McDonald Trail Station will host an election day bake and soup sale from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday on the Panhandle Trail at 160 S. McDonald St., McDonald.

Items for sale will be homemade.

West Hills symphonic concert

The West Hills Symphonic Band, under principal conductor Clem Rolin, will perform a benefit concert at 3 p.m. Sunday in the David E. Williams Middle School auditorium, Porters Hollow Road, Kennedy.

This marks the West Hills band's return to the Montour School District. The band has had to perform elsewhere because of construction at Montour High School.

The school district has served as host to the band since its inception in 1967.

The concert also is a homecoming for Mr. Rolin, who began his teaching career at David E. Williams Middle School in 1968.

The band consists of musicians from the West Hills area ranging in age from 16 to 85.

Tickets are $5 at the door, or they may be purchased from Montour High School student council members.

Concert proceeds will benefit the Montour High School Class of 2010 Senior Send-Off.

Toys for Tots

The Carnegie Police Department again is partnering with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Toys for Tots campaign.

New, unwrapped toys will be accepted at the lobby of the Carnegie municipal building, One Veterans Way, until mid-December.

Woodville Plantation program

Visitors can view 18th century military camp life during the re-enactment of soldiers from Anthony Wayne's Fourth Sub-Legion of the U.S. perform drills, fire muskets and discuss their routines during a program from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Woodville Plantation, Route 50, Collier.

The museum also will feature demonstrations about 18th century cooking techniques. Admission is $5 for adults or $10 per family. Visit www.woodvilleplantation.org.
