Keyaron Fox returned an interception 82 yards for a touchdown with one minute left to end a wild fourth-quarter scoring spree and give the Steelers a 27-17 victory over the previously unbeaten Minnesota Vikings today at Heinz Field.
Fox's score was the third long touchdown in the final 6 1/2 minutes, none scored by an offense.
LaMarr Woodley's 77-yard touchdown with a fumble return put the Steelers ahead 20-10 with 6:23 left but for the second time in the past two games, they allowed a touchdown on the following kickoff.
Percy Harvin took the kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown, touched only by kicker Jeff Reed along the way. That cut the lead back to three with 6:09 to go.
Jeff Reed and Minnesota's Ryan Longwell traded short field goals in the third quarter.
Reed kicked a 27-yard field goal, his second of the game, for a 13-7 Steelers lead. Longwell kicked an 18-yarder after the Steelers' defense held the Vikings out of the end zone after they had a first down at the one.
Ben Roethlisberger threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to rookie Mike Wallace to give the Steelers a 10-7 at halftime.
Wallace's TD with 24 seconds left capped a 91-yard drive that covered just 1:15.
Minnesota had taken a 7-3 lead earlier in the quarter when Adrian Peterson ran two yards for a touchdown.
Jeff Reed, kicking for the first time since his arrest seven days ago, booted a 39-yard field goal to give the Steelers a 3-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Before the kick, Ben Roethlisberger threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Santonio Holmes that was nullified when Heath Miller was called for running into a defender on his route, a 10-yard penalty.
The victory improved the Steelers' record to 5-2 heading into its off weekend. Minnesota fell to 6-1.
