A man was killed this afternoon when he was struck by falling concrete in a construction accident at Longwood at Oakmont, an assisted living facility in Verona.
An initial investigation suggests Yamil Gonzalez, 29, was working on the fourth floor of a structure when a crane lifting materials struck the fifth floor, causing a piece of concrete to fall on him, Plum police Chief Frank Monaco said.
Mr. Gonzalez was working for P&B Partitions of West Berlin, N.J., the chief said. Several of his family members were on-site just after 2 p.m., when the accident happened.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified and will visit the site tomorrow, Chief Monaco said.
