POINT MARION, Pa. -- Officials cut the ribbon on a new $21 million Point Marion Bridge this morning.
The span carries Route 88 over the Monongahela River between Greene and Fayette counties. It includes a wide sidewalk to accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists who use nearby river trails.
Construction began in December 2007. Traffic was maintained during the project on the 79-year-old Albert Gallatin Memorial Bridge, which is adjacent to the new span.
The old bridge will be demolished Nov. 9.
