Clash of punk

• How cool would it be to be in Berlin on Saturday night? You could go see Anti-Flag play a set of Clash covers at the Ramones Museum -- free admission! It's one of three such shows the Pittsburgh band is doing, including a stadium gig in Vienna on Nov. 1.

Anti-Flag's "The Economy S• • ks, Let's Party!" U.S. Tour 2010! with Aiden, Cancer Bats and Fireworks begins Jan. 12 in Detroit and stops at Mr. Small's on Feb. 6.

Wiz on the way

• Pittsburgh rap phenom Wiz Khalifa will release his long-awaited second album, "Deal or No Deal," on Rostrum Records on Nov. 24. The 15-track disc will feature production by E. Dan, Josh Everette, Ryan M. Tedder, Johnny Juliano and Sledgren, and guest spots by Curren$y, Kev Da Hustla, Lavish, and Everette.

Along with playing CMJ Week in New York, he'll be doing tour stops this fall in Indiana, Philadelphia, Houston and Los Angeles. Khalifa left Warner Bros. in July without ever releasing an album for the label.

Buzz Poets really back

• Lost in the shuffle a bit during the Fallen Heroes benefit back in May at the new Amphitheatre at Station Square was the fact that the Buzz Poets were reunited after a five-year hiatus.

The late '90s Pittsburgh alternative rock band, very much in the vein of 311, reformed with three original members -- Phil MacDowell, Tim Gaber and Justin Sarra -- adding guitarist-singer Zig (The Delaneys) and drummer Matt Gray (Dirty Black Horses). Missing are former frontman Tripper, now living in Texas, and drummer Ron Lavella, now playing in the band Vertical Horizon.

The Buzz Posts reappeared with the Fallen Heroes gig and then played Ribs on the River in August.

"I thought we'd get together for a reunion show and then everyone would go their separate ways," Gaber said in an e-mail, "and that probably would have been the case had we reeled the whole original band back together, because everyone is in different places and does different things. But all the people that are playing in the band right now live in Pittsburgh, so we have the luxury of maybe doing more shows. A couple thousand people showed up at Station Square for the show we did at the rib festival, plus we had so much fun and got a good response, so we thought, 'Why not try another one?'"

The Buzz Poets will turn up at Altar Bar in the Strip Saturday at 9 p.m. with Dirty Black Horses. Tickets are $8 in advance (Ticketmaster.com; 1-800-745-3000) and $10 at the door.

Girl Talk in 'RiP'

• Pittsburgh laptop star Girl Talk (aka Greg Gillis) was called upon, naturally, for the Documentary Channel's presentation "RiP: A Remix Manifesto," which explores the meaning of copyright in the digital age.

It's airing on the channel (which is not on Comcast) Monday at 9 p.m., but will also be available online at www.sling.com/network/189/The-Documentary-Channel.

Also featured in "RiP" are Creative Commons founder Lawrence Lessig, BoingBoing creator Cory Doctorow, and Gilberto Gil, Brazil's minister of culture.

From Tokyo

• The Heiz sound like a punkish update of the early Beatles doing Chuck Berry, which may come as a surprise from a band consisting of Shaku Keiji, Watanabe Asako and Kimura Takashi, three musicians from Tokyo on a U.S. tour. The Heiz stop at the 31st Street Pub Saturday on a pre-Halloween bill with rarely seen The Main Events (wrestling punk), the always hilarious Weird Paul Rock Band and the haunted Forbidden 5. It starts at 10 p.m. Admission is $6.

Damned visas

Legendary British punks The Damned were forced to cancel at least the early part of its U.S. tour due to visas not being approved. Unfortunately, that includes the show Friday at Diesel.
