Sex offender arrested in Lower Burrell
Tuesday, October 20, 2009

Allegheny County sheriff's deputies arrested a convicted sex offender who they say violated his parole, converging on him while he played video games yesterday at a Lower Burrell bar.

Zacharia Ziggy Zaremba, 24, of Plum, violated the terms of his parole from a 2008 sex assault case in which he admitted to providing alcohol to a 14-year-old girl and having sex with her, the sheriff's department said.

He pleaded guilty to a string of charges, including statutory sexual assault, indecent assault and furnishing liquor to minors.

A tipster last night told deputies that Mr. Zaremba had "recently been seen in a certain vehicle," and provided them with a license plate number, the department said. The owner of that car told deputies Mr. Zaremba was likely in one of two places, including Fox's Sports Bar and Hotel in Lower Burrell, where they arrested him without incident.

Mr. Zaremba was lodged in the Allegheny County Jail last night without bond.
