Pollock Begg Komar Glasser LLC said partners Brian C. Vertz and Elisabeth Bennington were inducted as fellows by the Allegheny County Bar Foundation, for lawyers with a commitment to excellence in charitable, community, professional and public service activities. Ms. Bennington and Mr. Vertz focus their practice in the areas of divorce, support and custody law.

The Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology said Dr. Kenneth P. Cheng of Pittsburgh was elected president of the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Cheng has served as president of the Pittsburgh Ophthalmology Society in 2003-2005.

FedFirst Financial Corp., parent company of First Federal Savings Bank, said R. Carlyn Belczyk was named to its board. Ms. Belczyk currently holds the position of secretary, treasurer and shareholder at Guthrie, Belczyk & Associates, P.C.

DeWayne J. Tuthill was promoted to president at InnerLink Strategic Solutions Inc.

Education

Carnegie Mellon University appointed psychology professor Michael J. Tarr co-director of the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition. The CNBC is a joint project between Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh devoted to investigating neural mechanisms and their impact on human cognitive abilities.

Health & Medicine

Health Assistance Program for Personnel and Industry and UPMC Passavant -- Cranberry named Dr. Shadrach Jones IV and Dr. Hardy Bang occupational medicine physicians.

Dr. Eric Pasierb joined Finn Chiropractic Group as associate doctor.

Spilman Thomas & Battle said Derrick Price Williamson joined as a member.

RTI International Metals Inc. hired David C. Smith as general manager at its extrusion facility in Houston, Texas, and Rachel Weaver as director of corporate human resources.
