Submit your WVU football question
Thanks much for your participation in the West Virginia football Q&A.
It is your job to ask the questions; my job to answer them -- so keep them rolling in. I will answer them as I get them each day throughout the season and through whatever bowl game the Mountaineers go to, as well as through signing day in February. Please remember to include your last name in submissions.
You can follow the Mountaineers daily here and at 'Eers to the Ground, a blog devoted to West Virginia football.
Also, take time each week to find your way into my live chat, it is each Thursday at 2 p.m.
Q. Colin, Is there any worry that we might lose some assistant coaches after this season? Did they all sign 2 year contracts after the Fiesta Bowl when Stew was hired? (of course Stew has a long term contract). That would open them up to offers from other schools.
Greg Werner, Clarksburg
DUNLAP: Greg, I went right to the source on your question. The part inside the quotations comes from the West Virgina sports communications office:
"The contract rolls over so it is always a two year contract. It's a protection for them more than us. So with the rollover, they always have two years and could leave this year, last year or any year. As you know, a coach can leave at any time but we were lucky to keep all of them last year. So basically with the rollover, the two years always remain in effect."
I hope that answers your question. In this current-day climate in collegiate athletics, we all know that contracts aren't worth a whole lot in terms of allegiance. I mean, there once was a guy who coached in Morgantown who now coaches at a place called Ann Arbor, or something like that, right?
But with this current WVU football staff, I get the inclination that they have an interest in being in Morgantown for awhile.
