65 miles of Turnpike to close late tomorrow
Friday, October 16, 2009

A 65-mile section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike is to close for five hours starting late tomorrow and going into early Sunday so some overhead bridges can be demolished.

Traffic between the Breezewood and Carlisle exits is to be detoured starting at 11 p.m. tomorrow, adding an estimated 30 minutes of time to the trip. The detour should be over by 4 a.m. Sunday.

The closure also affects three interchanges between Carlisle and Breezewood. There will be no entry at Blue Mountain and Willow Hill and westbound-only entry at Fort Littleton.

There are also plans to reduce traffic to a single lane for preparation and cleanup near the blast sites starting at 9 a.m. tomorrow. Things should be back to normal by 8 a.m. Sunday.
