BLOOD DRIVE

CRAFTS

Cheswick -- Ladies of the Shriners craft show and jewelry giveaway will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 24, 1877 Shriners Way. Admission, $2. Tickets for a $10,000 fine jewelry giveaway are $20 at the door.

DANCES

DONATIONS

Cranberry -- A food drive for Gleaners Food Bank is under way. Donations of nonperishable food, paper products, and personal hygiene items can be dropped of at the Cranberry municipal center, Rochester Road, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays, through October. ENTERTAINMENT

Aspinwall -- Guitarist Peter King will play from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 17 at Aspinwall Beans 'n' Cream, 16 Brilliant Ave.

FUNDRAISERS

Bellevue -- Allegheny General Hospital Suburban Campus Auxiliary will hold a card party luncheon Oct. 23 in the conference room of the hospital on Jackson Avenue. Cost is $12. Call 412-761-1765 for reservations.

Butler -- Registration for a poker run to combat dystonia will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Rock Ann Haven, 141 Greenwood Drive. Cost is $15 per rider, $10 per passenger. All proceeds benefit Dystonia Medical Research Foundation.

Hampton -- Hartwood Fest, a Fall harvest festival to benefit Hartwood Acres horses and gardens, will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at The Stables at Hartwood Acres. Tickets are $30 at the door; must be 21 years of age or older. Activities will include a pig roast, harvest beers, local wines, bands, hayrides, bobbing for apples and more. Indiana Township -- Paws for the Cure, sponsored by the Pittsburgh affiliate of Susan G. Koman Foundation, will be held Sunday at Heartwood Acres concert area. West View -- Residents can register to participate in the borough's annual Halloween parade Oct. 26, by signing up Wednesday and next Thursday at West View Borough Hall, 441 Perry Highway.

MEETINGS

McCandless -- The North Hills Genealogists will meet at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Northland Public Library on Cumberland Road, for "genealogy tip time," followed by the regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tim Pinnick will talk about World War I draft registration cards.

Shaler -- Shaler North Hills Library will be host to an evening of family ancestry research from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Oct. 24. The fee for Knight of the Dead is $40 and includes access to databases, experts and a box dinner. Register by Wednesday by calling 412-486-0211.

McCandless -- Ascension Lutheran Church, 8225 Peebles Road, presents "Martin: A Life of Martin Luther," an original one-man portrayal written and performed by Allan Lemke at 7 p.m. Oct. 30.

SPECIAL INTEREST

Cranberry -- The Cranberry Township Community Chest is offering two $500 Savings Bonds to township students in grades 5 through 12 for a meaningful community service project in Cranberry. Submissions must be made by the end of November. For more information call 724-776-4806.

Pine -- The Northern Allegheny County Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications from local nonprofits serving northern Allegheny County to be beneficiaries of its Benefit Luncheon Dec. 10.
