Monday, October 12, 2009

The death of a man following an argument in Verona was ruled a homicide today, and a suspect is to be charged.

Mark Bigenho, 49, died at UPMC Presbyterian at 12:38 a.m., about three hours after police found him unconscious at his daughter's apartment on Allegheny River Boulevard, county police Superintendent Charles Moffatt said today.

The county medical examiner said an autopsy today showed the victim died of head trauma.

Charges of homicide are pending against the daughter's boyfriend, Steven Williams, 26.

Verona police had been summoned to the apartment, in the 300 block of Allegheny River Boulevard, to quell a disturbance around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Mr. Bigenho, of Springdale, who had been staying at the apartment with his daughter, had gotten into an argument with Mr. Williams over money, police said.

Borough police found Mr. Bigenho unconscious in bed.
