South Fayette remained unbeaten as the Century Conference leader, hanging on to a 21-14 victory against Seton-LaSalle last night at Chartiers Valley Stadium.
The visiting Lions (6-0, 6-0) were led by Jeff Davis' 144 yards rushing and Christian Brumbaugh's 161 yards passing.
No. 3 South Fayette led 21-0 after Tyler Challingsworth returned an interception 98 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. Seton-LaSalle held a 338-280 lead in total yards. Anthony Rizza passed for 183 yards and ran 1 yard for a Rebels touchdown.
The host Eagles (5-1, 5-1) scored via the run, the pass, a punt return and an interception return en route to a one-sided win over the Crusaders (2-4, 2-4) in the Century Conference. Keystone Oaks had 406 total yards compared to Bishop Canevin's 156.
The host Bucanneers (5-1, 5-1) led 37-0 at halftime over the Vikings (1-5, 1-5) in the Allegheny Conference. Dan Domanski scored three touchdowns for Burrell. Camren Nelson completed 7 of 7 pass attempts for 100 yards. Burrell outgained Apollo-Ridge, 269-50.
In a battle of winless teams, host Cornell (1-5, 1-5) prevailed over Northgate (0-6, 0-6) in the Century Conference. Mark Rucker led Cornell with two touchdown runs of 4 yards each.
The top-ranked Tigers (6-0, 6-0) took command with a two touchdown halftime lead at Beaver (4-2, 4-1) in the Midwestern Conference. Cody Cook led Beaver Falls with 178 yards rushing and Tony Omogrosso threw a pair of scoring passes. Beaver Falls held a big edge in offensive yardage, 319-117.
Host Deer Lakes (2-4, 2-4) was held to five first downs and 87 yards total offense in losing to Kittanning (4-2, 4-2) in the Allegheny Conference.
No. 4 Mount Pleasant (6-0, 6-0) trounced Brownsville (1-5, 1-5) in the Interstate Conference, leading 42-0 at halftime. Bryce Ansell led with 122 yards rushing and touchdown runs of 59 and 38 yards.
Dejan Reddix's 11-yard touchdown catch from Paul Jones with 56 seconds left in the fourth quarter rallied the Vikings (5-1, 5-1) to a victory against Steel Valley (4-2, 4-2) in the Century Conference. Jones completed 15 of 28 pass attempts for 234 yards.
The host Cougars (5-1, 5-1) avoided an upset, rallying to beat Waynesburg (1-5, 1-5) in the Interstate Conference. Waynesburg led 7-0 at halftime. Kyle Shannon got the decisive touchdown on a 28-yard reception with 59 seconds remaining in the game.
The visiting Centurions (4-2, 4-2) led 20-0 at halftime to keep host East Allegheny (0-6, 0-6) winless in the Interstate Conference. David Miller led Greensburg Central Catholic with three touchdowns and 144 yards rushing, including an 81-yard touchdown. Greensburg Central Catholic outgained East Allegheny, 312-145.
Colin Bredl and Justin Upham scored two touchdowns each as visiting Mohawk (3-3, 3-3) downed Ellwood City (0-6, 0-6) in the Midwestern Conference.
Marquis Brown scored two touchdowns for visiting Washington (4-2, 4-2), which blanked South Allegheny (0-6, 0-6) in the Interstate Conference. It is the second consecutive game the Gladiators were shut out and their third game in a row without a touchdown.
Shayne Dotson rushed for 264 yards, which included an 88-yard touchdown run for the visiting Eagles (3-3, 3-3), who routed the Quakers (0-6, 0-6) in the Century Conference.
Host New Brighton (0-6, 0-6) fought back but came up short in a loss to Freedom (2-4, 2-4) in the Midwestern Conference. Joe Ermi scored two touchdowns to stake Freedom to a 27-9 lead before New Brighton came back with two second-half touchdowns.
The Jayhawks (5-1, 5-1) got back on track with a big home victory against McGuffey (4-2, 4-2) in the Interstate Conference.
No. 5 Freeport (5-1, 5-1) had no problem in winning at Valley (3-3, 3-3) in the Allegheny Conference.
