The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania is taking applications for its fourth annual $5,000 scholarship awarded to aspiring journalists. The scholarship, designed to encourage outstanding collegiate journalism students in print and broadcasting, will be awarded in May 2010 in Pittsburgh at the annual Golden Quills Awards Dinner sponsored by The Press Club.
Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college or university for at least two years. They must be able to demonstrate why they should receive the award. Their primary residence must be in one of the 29 counties of Western Pennsylvania. Deadline for applications is Jan. 15, 2010. B-Three Solutions Inc. gained approval as a pre-qualified Information Technology vendor under Pennsylvania's Invitation to Qualify program.
GAI Consultants Inc. opened a 10,000-square-foot Westmoreland County office at 4101 Triangle Lane, Export, that will accommodate 30 engineers and technicians, with plans to eventually staff 45. It will serve municipal and energy clients with the civil, geotechnical and environmental engineering staff specializing in power plant and power distribution engineering. The new location, known as GAI-Greensburg, is GAI's 13th branch office and fourth new opening in 2009.
Landau Building Co. completed the Northside Fire Station of Morgantown owned by the City of Morgantown. The architect for the project was Bignell Watkins Hasser Architects P.C. of Annapolis, Md. The new Northside Fire Station is an energy efficient LEED-certified building.
Burns & Scalo Roofing was awarded roofing contracts for: Verizon, McKeesport, Crafton, Jeannette, Brownsville, Glenshaw, Pleasant Hills and Wampum, Lawrence County.
PWCampbell was awarded four design/build contracts with Marine Federal Credit Union, a retail office at Camp Lejeune, N.C.; Tower Federal Credit Union, a retail office in Arundel Mills, Md.; Jim Thorpe National Bank, an addition/renovation to a building in Lehighton, Carbon County; and StellarOne Corp. for a North Town retail office in Albemarle County, Va.
S&T Bancorp Inc. declared a 15 cent per share cash dividend, payable Oct. 23 to shareholders of record Sept. 30.
