Nine teenagers attended the Oakdale council meeting last night to ask permission to build an addition to the deck near the Panhandle Trail's intersection with Union Avenue.
Nick Hickmott, 19, said the friends, who use the deck as an evening gathering location, want to build a covered ramp leading to the rest station to ease access for elderly and disabled people.
He said they would provide the labor and attempt to raise about $2,000 for the lumber, concrete and other materials.
Council President Ron Gamble said borough officials would consider the idea. "We really appreciate young men thinking of the community."
