Community College of Allegheny County announced today it has been awarded a federal grant of nearly $750,000 to train working adults and laid-off workers.
The three-year grant came from the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education, which distributed $11.2 million to 29 schools nationwide.
CCAC will launch the Mechatronics Technician Learning Center to provide training for displaced and underemployed workers in advanced manufacturing/integrated technology systems.
CCAC will recruit students through regional employers, The Pittsburgh Hispanic Center, Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board, CareerLink and the CCAC Career Transitions Center.
