Archery season opened statewide yesterday with crossbows permitted as a legal sporting arm. Illuminated nocks that help archers to find arrows in dim light are legal, but arrows with transmitter devices remain off limits. Archery season runs through Nov. 16, and reopens Dec. 26-Jan. 9.
