WPIAL Class AAAA: Baldwin upsets Peters Township, 20-17

Three Class AAAA teams entered the night undefeated, but one of them was surprisingly upset.

After starting the season 4-0, Peters Township let a double-digit halftime lead slip away in a 20-17 loss at previously winless Baldwin in the Great Southern Conference.

The Highlanders (1-4, 1-0) trailed, 10-0, at the half, before exploding for three second-half touchdowns.

Peters Township (4-1, 0-1) led, 17-13, after Austin Hancock found Brandon Hoffman for a 5-yard touchdown, but the Highlanders got the winner when Nathan Reed connected with Larry Wallace for a 12-yard touchdown strike.

Reed finished 11 of 21 for 123 yards and also threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Marquis.

Baldwin outgained Peters Township, 298 to 113.

OTHER GAMES
Gateway 55, Norwin 7

Top-ranked Gateway (5-0, 3-0) unleashed its potent offense against visiting Norwin (3-2, 1-2) in the Foothills Conference. The Gators, who have scored 198 points in their last four games, saw four players score two touchdowns apiece. Orne Bey dashed to scoring runs of 55 and 49 yards in the first quarter, and Brendon Felder later added runs of 15 and 80 yards. Markie'd Jones scored both of Gateway's second-half touchdowns on runs of 4 and 15 yards. Rob Kalkstein connected with Steve Vranka on two touchdowns, one from 66 yards and the other from 5 yards.

McKeesport 47, Latrobe 6

The No.2-ranked Tigers (4-1, 3-0) exploded for 466 yards on the ground in the rout of the visiting Wildcats (2-3, 1-2) in the Foothills Conference. Darien Robinson led the way with 131 yards on nine carries, scoring on touchdown runs of 64 and 14 yards. E'Vander Wright scored on an 80-yard run and a 61-yard pass from quarterback Ty-Meer Brown, who has thrown five touchdowns in just 13 attempts this season. Brown also scored on a 34-yard run.

Shaler 29, Butler 14

Mike Ramey ran for 204 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 5 Shaler (5-0, 1-0) to the victory at winless Butler (0-5, 0-1) in the Northern Six Conference. Ramey scored on 1- and 26-yard runs for the Titans, who also got two touchdown passes from Tyler Bills to Jesse DellaValle. Bills finished 10 of 21 for 187 yards, with DellaValle on the receiving end of seven for 158 yards.

Kiski Area 18, Fox Chapel 7

Tarique Godson's two first-quarter touchdowns was all the host Cavaliers (3-2, 1-0) needed to edge Fox Chapel (3-2, 0-1) in the Big East Conference. Godson opening the scoring with a 20-yard touchdown run and then returned a punt 55 yards for a score to put the Cavaliers ahead, 14-0. The Foxes' Montay Green hauled in a 71-yard touchdown pass from Noel Wilson to cut the deficit in half, before Kiski Area added a pair of safeties. Green ran for 118 yards and caught four passes for 89 yards.

Penn Hills 28, Plum 7

The Indians (2-3, 1-0) won their second straight, coming from behind to defeat host Plum (1-4, 0-1) in the Big East Conference. Trailing, 7-0, at halftime, Penn Hills tied the score on Brandon Ifill's 46-yard punt return, and went ahead later in the third quarter on Toreek Hester's 1-yard run. Mike Jackson scored on an 85-yard interception return for the Indians.

Erie McDowell 44, Hempfield 14

Zach Greenawalt hooked up with Mike Bizzaro for two touchdowns to give host Erie McDowell (4-1, 2-1) a win against the Spartans (1-4, 0-3) in the Foothills Conference. Hempfield's Dante Nania scored on a 1-yard run to cut Erie McDowell's lead to 14-7, but the Trojans scored the next 10 points to break the game open. R.J. Thomas added Hempfield's other touchdown on a 1-yard run.

Penn-Trafford 49, Connellsville 0

Tyler Zimmer scored on offense and defense in the Warriors (2-3, 2-1) blanking of host Connellsville (0-5, 0-3) in the Foothills Conference. Zimmer ran for a 4-yard score in the first quarter and returned an interception for a touchdown in the second quarter. Connellsville has tallied just 13 points this season and has been shut out three times.

Bethel Park 27, Mt. Lebanon 14

The Black Hawks (4-1, 1-0) raced to a 20-0 first-half lead and held on to defeat host Mt. Lebanon (2-3, 0-1) in the Great Southern Conference. The Bethel Park scores came on a Bre Ford 1-yard run, a Chris Rizzo fumble recovery in the end zone, and Nick Kwiatkoski's 55-yard punt return. Kwiatkoski added a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter, after the Blue Devils had cut the lead to 20-14. Andy Goff completed 11 of 14 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown for Mt. Lebanon.

Upper St. Clair 41, Canon-McMillan 20

The Panthers (4-1, 1-0) broke open a close game by scoring three second-quarter touchdowns on the way to the victory against the visiting Big Macs (2-3, 0-1) in the Great Southern Conference. Ahead 13-12 in the second quarter, the Panthers got a touchdown pass from Alex Park to Tim Kitka, a 23-yard fumble return by Gordon Matthews and a 2-yard run from Jacob Siwicki. On the night, Siwicki ran for 181 yards and two touchdowns. Park finished 10 of 15 for 204 yards.

North Hills 14, Pine-Richland 3

After being blanked in the first half, host North Hills (3-2, 1-0) scored a pair of second-half touchdowns to earn the Northern Six Conference win against Pine-Richland (2-3, 0-1). After Michael Sivak's 3-yard run in the third quarter put the Indians ahead, 7-3, Elajah David provided some insurance with a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter.

North Allegheny 37, Seneca Valley 0

Grant Huckestein's three touchdowns led the Tigers (4-1, 1-0) to their second shutout of the season, this against the Raiders (2-3, 0-1) in the Northern Six Conference. The Tigers jumped to a 30-0 halftime lead behind a 14-yard Huckestein run and a 6-yard scoring pass from Justin Brozick to Huckestein, who finished the scoring with a 40-yard run in the third quarter.
