A utility worker from Brookville, Jefferson County, was killed yesterday afternoon when he was struck by a coal truck while standing near Route 422 in Indiana County.

Robert S. Conner Sr., 48, was working on the south shoulder of Route 422 near Parkwood Road shortly after noon Friday when he was struck by a truck driven by Carl White, 59, of Avonmore, Westmoreland County. Mr. Conner was pronounced dead at the Indiana Regional Medical Center at 12:56 p.m.

State police at the Indiana barracks reported no charges against Mr. White.
