This past week: Bowman carried the ball 15 times for 207 yards and four touchdowns to lead Franklin Regional to a 42-21 win against Fox Chapel. All four of Bowman's touchdown runs came from more than 20 yards out, three from beyond the 40-yard line.

Check this out: The 6-foot, 195-pound senior is averaging more than 100 yards rushing per game, but next year Bowman likely will play on Saturdays on defense. Bowman also leads the Franklin Regional defense as a standout safety and is a Division I prospect as a defender. • What is your favorite subject in school? Psychology because that's what I want to major in. I just like learning about how people think, and I like learning about the way people interact with each other.

• When not playing football, what are you most likely doing? I'm either in the gym or hanging out with friends, playing video games (like) NCAA Football or Call of Duty.

• Do you have any pregame rituals? I normally go to my friend's house, and we either watch a football movie or something to do with football.

• What artist gets the most play on your iPod? Wiz Khalifa.

• What artist would people be surprised to find on your iPod? Dave Matthews.

• Why do you wear No. 33? I've had that number since I started playing football 12 years ago, so I just kind of stuck with it. I kind of idolized Tony Dorsett when I was younger, and that's the number he wore.

• Who is your favorite professional athlete? Sean Taylor, even though he passed away. I play safety, and I really idolized him.

• Who is your biggest role model? I'd probably say (Franklin Regional) coach (Ray) Botta because he teaches us a lot about good morals, giving back and being unselfish.

Recently: McGowan has led the Penn Hills girls' volleyball team to a 5-0 start and the top spot in WPIAL Class AAA, Section 4. She played a key role in the Indians' 3-2 section win against Plum Tuesday, and helped them to a quarterfinal appearance in the Derry tournament.

Check this out: A senior middle blocker, McGowan is considered one of the top players in the WPIAL. McGowan, a three-year starter, is receiving interest from Division I schools.

• What type of play do you enjoy making the most? There's two. A block and making a dig.

• What do you dislike about volleyball? The conditioning. All the things that go into being good. But I do them anyway.

• Do you ever wish more fans would come and watch your games? Actually, since we started winning last year, people started showing up at our games. As of right now, we're the only undefeated sport in our school, and I think people respect us now.

• Top high school football and basketball players go to summer camps to get noticed by college coaches. Is this also the case with volleyball players? Yeah. I went to elite college recruiting camp. Plus, we went to a team camp at Juniata, and I play for a club team, too.

• Favorite movie? Mean Girls.

• Pitt, Penn State or West Virginia? Penn State because their volleyball team is amazing.

• Did any of your teachers discuss the G-20 summit in class? No.

• How many text messages do you send a day? A lot. I really think it's over 1,000.
