The Robinson commissioners will discuss the township engineering position at their caucus meeting Oct. 3 and make a decision by their voting meeting Oct. 10.
The commissioners last night interviewed three engineering firms: Remington, Vernick & Beach, which has served the township since January, 2008; Lennon Smith Souleret, which served the township for the 16 years before that; and NIRA Engineers, based in Robinson.
The decision to drop Lennon Smith and hire Remington Vernick was a controversial one: Remington Vernick has a history of heavy political involvement in New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania. In an effort to clear the air, the commissioners in February decided to reopen the engineering position and conduct public interviews.
The commissioners interviewed 16 firms in March and April, and decided in August to bring three in for second interviews.
