UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State has landed the No. 1 recruit in the state of New York for 2010.

Dominique Easley, a defensive lineman from Curtis High School in Staten Island, N.Y., gave the Nittany Lions' coaching staff a verbal commitment after watching Saturday's 31-6 win over Temple at Beaver Stadium.

Easley is ranked the top prospect in New York by Scout.com and Rivals.com, and is the 18th player to commit to Penn State for next season. He also is ranked the 41st-best recruit in the country by ESPNU.com.

Easley, 6 feet 3 and 255 pounds, also visited Florida, Georgia and Rutgers and had 18 scholarship offers. He has been invited to play in the Under Armour All-America game featuring the country's top high school seniors Jan. 2 in Orlando, Fla.
