Losing many of its key contributors from last year's WPIAL titlest, a rebuilding year seemed to be in the cards for Bethel Park.
But two weeks into the season, it looks like the only thing the Black Hawks are building for is another deep playoff run.
Bre Ford ran 89 yards and scored the first two touchdowns of the game, leading the Black Hawks (2-0) to a surprisingly lopsided 25-0 win against visiting Penn Hills (0-2).
Matt Bliss found Alex Barossio for a 9-yard touchdown to give cap Bethel Park's 20-point second quarter. The Black Hawks added a field goal and safety in the second half.
It marks the second loss in a row for Penn Hills, which began the season ranked No. 3.
Brandon Felder and Dayonne Nunley each ran for two touchdowns to lead No. 2 Gateway (2-0) to the blowout win at Baldwin (0-2). Felder scored on runs of 14 and 54 yards, while Nunley's came from 23 and 22 yards. Rob Kalkstein went 10 of 14 for 217 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
No. 3-ranked McKeesport (1-1) avenged a season-opening loss by shelling host Plum (1-1). The Tigers dropped a one-point decision to St. Joseph's Prep in the Rally in the Vally last Saturday.
Connor Scott scored on a pair of kickoff returns and Jacob Siwicki added four touchdowns to help the Panthers (2-0) breeze by the visiting Rams (1-1). Scott's return touchdowns came from 98 and 90 yards. Siwicki scored on runs of 1, 5 and 55 yards, and on a 35-yard pass from Alex Park.
No. 4-ranked North Allegheny spotted the host Blue Devils a seven-point lead, before coasting to victory. Alex Papson ran for 121 yards and two touchdowns, and Grant Huckestein chipped in 83 yards and two touchdowns, both in the second quarter.
Elijah David ran for 108 yards and three scores to help the Indians (1-1) defeat the host Warriors (0-2). After Penn-Trafford scored to come within, 14-7, David's third touchdown enabled the Indians to pull away. North Hills' Scott Zubik had seven receptions for 66 yards, including an 8-yard scoring hookup from Taylor Schmidt.
Trailing 7-0 at the half, the Foxes (2-0) used two Montay Green touchdown runs to beat visiting Latrobe (1-1). Green had 136 yards on 23 carries. Eric Shaffer scored on a 1-yard run for Latrobe.
Brandon Horsman kicked a 39-yard field goal as time expired to give the Knights (2-0) the thrilling win at Butler (0-2). The Knights capitalized on a Butler fumble in the closing minutes. Norwin's Tim Petro threw for a touchdown and also ran for one.
Dom Timbers carried five times for 110 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead the Wolverines (1-1) to the win at Connellsville (0-2). A Syracuse recruit, Timbers scored on runs of 31 and 3 yards, helping the Wolverines build a 28-0 first-quarter lead. The Wolverines rushed for 159 yards on 12 carries in the first half. Sam Scifo added three field goals.
The Indians (2-0) rolled to the road win at Kiski Area (0-2).
The host Trojans (2-0) ran for 338 yards to hand the Raiders (0-2) the defeat. Greg Garmon led the Trojans with seven carries for 148 yards and two touchdowns. For Seneca Valley, Donny Holl completed 20 of 35 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown, and he also ran for a score.
Jesse DellaValle's three touchdowns ignited the Titans (2-0) to the win against the host Spartans (1-1). DellaValle scored on a pair of 4-yard runs and a 7-yard pass from Tyler Bills. His second scoring run capped a 99-yard drive that provided the final points. Hempfield's Pat Parisi scored on a 56-yard run and finished with 171 yards.
