Steve Blass said he felt the same way after his amazing feat at Greensburg Country Club on Thursday as he did after winning the World Series in 1971 -- too thrilled to even celebrate.

Playing in a Pirates Alumni Golf outing, the former pitcher-turned-broadcaster had two holes-in-one in the same round, a feat so uncommon that Golf Digest lists the odds as 1-in-67 million.

"The first one we all went berserk," said Blass, who was playing in a fivesome in the outing. The second one, I took off my glasses, and started rolling down the hill like a little kid. I looked like a big, fat bear rolling down the hill."

Because his group started on the back nine at Greensburg, Blass's first ace came at the 154-yard 15th hole, when he used an 8-iron. The second came at the 175-yard seventh hole when he knocked a 7-iron into the cup. Each hole carried a prize for a hole-in-one so Blass walked away with a computer and a $500 gift credit card.

"I've never even used a computer," Blass said. "And it cost me $400 in the bar."

Until Thursday, Blass had only one hole-in-one before in his life -- in 1996 at a course in Florida that is no longer in existence.

"When I was driving home, I was still so numb, still shaking," Blass said. "It was like after the World Series -- I was too thrilled to get drunk."
