A Slovan man was killed in a three-vehicle accident in Washington County early this morning.
Roger Walters, 48, was ejected from the Ford F-150 he was driving and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, on Route 837 just south of Bentley Drive in Union, state police said.
The accident happened about 6 a.m., when a tractor-trailer heading south on Route 837 crossed the double yellow line and side-swiped a northbound Ford F-250 and Mr. Walters' pickup, which was traveling about three car lengths behind it.
Mr. Walters, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle, state police said. Neither the driver of the tractor-trailer, Nicholas Jackson, 31, of Carrollton, Ohio, nor the driver of the Ford F-250, Steven D. Coffield, 44, of Aleppo, were injured, police said.
The truck spilled 120 gallons of fuel on the roadway, and an environmental cleanup team from Beaver County was called to the scene.
