Supervisors Jim Morosetti, John Meyers and James Mangan voted unanimously to adopt the resolution that requests that the state Department of Environmental Protection conduct a thorough permit review under the most current, stringent regulations and hold public meetings as part of the process.
The resolution says that residents have expressed "grave concerns" about the Beech Hollow Energy Project and its possible negative impacts on health, air and environmental quality, property values and general quality of life.
"We're responsible for the safety and welfare of our residents," Mr. Morosetti said after the meeting.
Also last night, supervisors voted 3-0 to join Findlay and Moon in helping to pay for traffic signal improvements at the Parkway West's Montour Run Road interchange and nearby intersections on Cliff Mine Road.
The $134,800 project will ease traffic flow to and from the parkway, residential neighborhoods, and commercial and industrial areas such as RIDC Park West, the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott, FedEx and The Pointe at North Fayette.
A $107,840 federal grant will fund 80 percent of the project, with the remaining 20 percent falling to the three townships that contain the intersections: Findlay, $17,859; Moon, $6,817; and North Fayette, $2,284.
