Even Steelers fans can't be in two places at the same time. And when one of the choices is Heinz Field for the team's season opener, the other place -- no matter what is going on -- is at a distinct disadvantage.
The National Football League, however, has come up with a schedule of events for Thursday's NFL Kickoff extravaganza that might work out perfectly for fans wanting to see music superstars Tim McGraw and The Black Eyed Peas in Point State Park.
The park will open for admission at 4 p.m., when the league will present "America's Game: 2008 Pittsburgh Steelers," an NFL Films retrospective of the team's championship season. There also will be music, concessions and other video entertainment.
Fans will be admitted through a security checkpoint at the main entrance to Point State Park. The list of prohibited items includes weapons, alcohol, glass containers, fireworks, chairs and tents, grills, umbrellas, pets, blankets, food and beverages.
The Fort Duquesne Bridge walkway from the North Shore to the park will be closed before the concert. Fans parking on the North Shore should cross the Clemente Bridge at Sixth Street.
Tim McGraw will perform an hourlong set beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by an hourlong set by The Black Eyed Peas at 6:40 p.m.
At 8 p.m., Mr. McGraw and The Peas will perform again as part of a live show being televised on NBC and the NFL Network.
Steelers fans eager to see Harry Connick Jr. sing the national anthem before the start of the football game might want to pass on the 8 p.m. performance.
