Fans will have their choice of traveling tours this holiday weekend at local tracks.
Today, two groups will appear on the same card for the first time this season as Lernerville Speedway plays host to the O'Reilly All Star Late Models and the Sprint Cars.
The All Star Late Models have raced 12 times in their debut season and are going into their second appearance of the year at the Sarver oval.
Boom Briggs of Bear Lake won the series' inaugural event at Lernerville. Briggs has three victories on the year and the series point lead over area drivers Rob Blair and Jared Miley.
Three-time Lernerville Late Model champion Alex Ferree leads the local contingent of Late Model drivers against the visitors.
On the All Star Sprint Car side of the event, it's the return of Aliquippa's Tim Shaffer, the point leader of the All Star Circuit of Champions. Rod George, the three-time Lernerville champion, leads the local Sprint Cars against the All Stars.
'The Duel in the Dirt' gets under way at 7 p.m. with qualifying for the two groups.
The BRP Modified Tour has two events scheduled for the weekend beginning today at Tri-City Speedway in Franklin.
The V-8 Modified Tour returns to Tri-City Speedway for a 40-lap event worth $3,000 to the winner. Racing begins at 7:30 p.m.
The Modified Tour then returns to Pittsburgh's Pa. Motor Speedway tomorrow for Modisaurus X at the Monster Half-Mile outside of Imperial. Kevin Bolland of New Brighton won the first event at PPMS and looks to take home the $1,500 first-place prize in the 30-lap feature event.
All action gets under way at 7 p.m., including special events for all divisions.
Tomorrow and Sunday, it's the World of Outlaws Late Models at Tri-City Speedway for the Oil Region Labor Day Classic.
The weekend schedule consists of 50-lap features paying $10,000 to the WoO Late Model feature winner each day. Also on the card will be FASTrak Late Models and E Mods.
Racing starts at 4 p.m. each day with WoO hot laps and time trials.
