New Business/New Offices

Burns & Scalo Real Estate Services said JFS Wealth Advisors has signed a lease for office space located at Foster Plaza 9, 750 Holiday Drive.

Direct Energy Business signed a five-year lease for 52,000 square feet at Liberty Center, Downtown. Desmone & Associates Architects will provide interior design and space planning to accommodate 300 people within the space, which will become the company's North American headquarters in November.

Contracts

Foundation Radiology Group has an exclusive imaging services contract with Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Landau Building Co. was awarded a contract from Heritage Valley Health Systems at Heritage Valley Beaver for the New Wound Care Center, Fluoroscopy Room Renovations and CT Replacement.

Virtual Edge Collaborative was hired by PharmaCorp, a newly created international pharmaceutical company with locations in the USA, UAE and Uganda.

FSC Marketing Communications continues its long-standing partnership with PPG Industries with the addition of PPG Optical Materials to its client list. FSC will be working with PPG Optical to brand and develop marketing and promotional materials for Trivex lens material and other optical products.

Awards/Honors

Peter Schlicht, financial consultant and accredited wealth management advisor, Janney Montgomery Scott LLC, was recognized as a FIVE STAR: Best in Client Satisfaction Wealth Manager for 2009 by Crescendo Business Services, an independent research firm and Pittsburgh Magazine. 2009 FIVE STAR Wealth Managers represent those wealth managers in the Pittsburgh area that scored highest in client satisfaction.

John F. Alcorn, Ph.D., a biologist in the John G. Rangos Sr. Research Center at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, was selected as one of ten 2009 recipients of the prestigious Parker B. Francis Fellowship, awarded each year to scientists conducting pulmonology research. Mr. Alcorn's research focuses on uncovering the molecular pathway of pneumonia infections and defining novel therapeutic targets in the lung. His studies will address the role of helper T cells and their downstream signaling pathways involved in host defense, all of which will promote the resolution of pneumonia.

William G. Barth, financial consultant with Janney Montgomery Scott LLC, completed the Accredited Wealth Management Advisorsm exam and now holds the AWMAsm designation. Mr. Barth completed the AWMAsm program which is aimed at enhancing the wealth management knowledge of investment consultants with courses on the accumulation, preservation and transfer of wealth.

Thomas J. Ryan and Alex M. Kindler, CPA financial forensics experts with Horovitz, Rudoy & Roteman, LLC were awarded the Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) Credential by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The CFF Credential, established in 2008 by the AICPA, is granted to qualified CPAs with considerable professional experience in financial forensics.

Phyllis G. Hartman, founder of PGHR Consulting, Inc., co-authored a book that was published by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and released at the SHRM national conference in New Orleans, LA. SHRM is a professional association with more than 280,000 members worldwide and is dedicated to the development of HR as a profession as well as assisting HR professionals in their careers. "Never Get Lost Again: Navigating Your HR Career," was written because Nancy Glube, of Atlanta GA. The book is a collection of information, tools and practical tips on developing ones' career. It includes information shared by senior HR and business leaders on their career experiences and their view of the needed skills for business success.
