Andrew CARSWELL, Sto-Rox
Height: 6-4 Weight: 210
Position: WR-LB
Year: Senior
THE SKINNY: One of the top receivers in the WPIAL. Tall with good hands, Carswell caught 39 passes for 599 yards a year ago, and 20 for 367 yards as a sophomore. He also plays linebacker on defense.
COLLEGE TALK: Carswell made a verbal commitment to Pitt in early July. He had more than a dozen scholarship offers and turned down Michigan, Michigan State, West Virginia and Wisconsin, among others. Pitt recruited him as a receiver.
YOUR QUARTERBACK, PAUL JONES, IS OUT WITH A BROKEN ANKLE. HOW DIFFICULT IS IT WITHOUT HIM? It's a little difficult, just as far as knowing the offense that we ran the last two years. I'm not saying it's too hard to deal with, but it's harder on everybody, and not just me.
WHAT WILL THE TEAM BE LIKE UNTIL JONES GETS BACK? I think we should be OK. I think we've had enough time to get back on track. We may not have the same explosiveness offensively, but we'll be OK.
JONES IS A PENN STATE RECRUIT, BUT ARE YOU STILL TRYING TO GET HIM TO GO TO PITT? I always talk to him, just to see how he feels and if he feels like changing his mind. He likes to play around, saying he doesn't know where he's going to go. Who knows.
YOU ALSO PLAY LINEBACKER. DO YOU KNOW NOT MANY RECEIVERS PLAY LINEBACKER? Not many, but I like it a lot. When I first started playing [in ninth grade], I played linebacker. When I became a sophomore and Paul became the quarterback, I started working more at receiver. But I like linebacker. I like being in the midst of the action.
CHAD OCHOCINCO IS ... The best receiver around. I try to take some moves from him and use them.
WHAT IS THE WORST PART OF STARTING SCHOOL? Getting used to waking up early.
WHO HAS THE BEST BURGERS: Hardee's.
PEOPLE MIGHT BE SURPRISED TO KNOW THAT ... I have a tattoo now. People were always asking me when I would get one, and now I have one on my arm of my mom's name, Nikki.
