On Aug. 21, we published "Rascal Flatts, You've Got a Fan With a Special Request" by Samantha Cresanto. Writing from South Korea (where her husband is stationed with the U.S. Army), Samantha made an appeal on behalf of her younger brother, Kyle Smith, 22, who has cerebral palsy: Could someone please get Kyle backstage at the Rascal Flatts concert on Aug. 28?
"We have spent the past 22 years side by side," wrote Samantha, a Pittsburgh native, "and we have gone to the Rascal Flatts concert at the Post-Gazette Pavilion for the past five years. Kyle is a true fan!" Kyle lives in Lisbon, Ohio, with his mother, Barb Santini, who was taking him to the concert this year.
On Saturday, Samantha provided an update by e-mail:
Kyle did get to meet Rascal Flatts, and he had an awesome time. (Here's a photo from my mother.) Mom said he was so excited and so happy, and she said he said his usual, "I'll see you next year, I'll be back" at the end of the concert. :)
So many people responded with offers to help. I'd really like to thank the awesome people of Pittsburgh for their caring hearts and their kindness. ... It was them who made this happen.
So, from Kyle, Mom and myself: Thank you, everybody! Kyle is an amazing guy, and it is always a huge blessing when he gets to do something out of the ordinary like this that makes him so happy and excited.
With warmest regards,
Samantha (samanthacresanto@gmail.com)
