Pitt basketball player Gilbert Brown has been suspended from the university for the fall semester due to academics and will miss the majority of the Panthers' non-conference basketball schedule. Brown, who was expected to be a starter, will be eligible to rejoin the team Dec. 20.

Pitt coach Jamie Dixon was not available for comment.
