A student fell down a stairwell and died in Wean Hall at Carnegie Mellon University earlier today, according to a university spokeswoman and City of Pittsburgh Police.

All members of the city police department's homicide unit are investigating at the scene, which is a computing services building, police said.

The university spokeswoman could not describe the time or circumstances of the accident, and neither she nor the Allegheny County medical examiner's office could identify the student.
