McConnell-Serio's contract extended at Duquesne
Wednesday, August 26, 2009

Duquesne University athletic director Greg Amodio announced today that head women's basketball coach Suzie McConnell-Serio signed a multi-year contract extension through the 2013-14 season.

"Suzie has taken the Duquesne women's basketball program to new heights in a very short period of time," Amodio said. "Her proven ability as a leader and teacher of the game, combined with an unparalleled work ethic, has built a solid foundation for the future. Suzie and her staff have recruited the type of student-athletes who represent Duquesne University in an exemplary manner, on the court, in the classroom and in the community. I look forward to Suzie being part of our program for years to come."

McConnell-Serio guided the Dukes to a 15-15 record in 2008, her first season, before advancing the team to a 20-12 record and WNIT appearance last year. The 35 wins are the most by any coach in Duquesne women's basketball history over a two-year span.
