Scott Blatchford joined the tax team at Horovitz, Rudoy & Roteman, LLC.

Maher Duessel promoted Elizabeth Cuthbert, manager accountant; Joy Short, Janet Feick and Kristen Connors, to senior accountants; and hired Michael T. Korhnak as senior accountant and Kristen Dening, staff accountant.

Hapanowicz & Associates Financial Services hired Emery J. Levick as business development specialist.

Education

Cheryl L. Knoch was named director of student life at Duquesne University.

Health & Medicine

Two physicians specializing in obstetrics and gynecology joined the medical staff at Excela Health. They are Dr. Carolyn Chambers and Dr. Kelly DeVoogd. Dr. Chambers joined the practice of Gyno Associates with offices in Latrobe and Greensburg. Dr. DeVoogd joined the practice of Westmoreland Obstetrics and Gynecology, with offices in Greensburg and North Huntingdon.

Law

Metz Lewis LLC hired Kenneth C. Thiess and Julie I. Kline as members. Mr. Thiess focuses on banking law, corporate and business transactions, and trust and estate administration. Ms. Kline focuses on corporate and business representation and estate planning and administration.

Nonprofit

Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force said board members serving on the communications committee are Valerie Golik, adjunct assistant professor at Point Park University; Keri Harmicar, marketing & outreach manager for LIFE Pittsburgh; Carol Wolicki, director of marketing for Ennect, a division of e-marketing corporation Elliance Inc.

The Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project selected its 2009-2010 executive officers from its board: President, Justin Lokay, political director for Arlen Specter 2010; vice president, D. Geoffrey Webster, principal and co-founder, Value Capture LLC.; vice president for strategic initiatives, Julia Clough, corporate marketing director, VisitPittsburgh; treasurer, Larry E.
