The Pine-Richland school board, considering two options for expanding the district's high school, voted 8-1 last night to add classrooms onto the building's northwest section.
Voted down was a more expensive plan to add a southern annex to the school that would have required relocation of the school's tennis courts. School Director Robert Necciai was the lone vote in favor of that option. The southern annex was estimated to add at least $500,000 to the cost of the project.
The "STEM" addition, as the options were tagged, will include science, technology and math classrooms.
Architect Dan Engen of Eckles Architecture and Engineering developed the options as part of a feasibility study on the high school expansion.
