Tuesday, August 18, 2009
Height:
6-3 Weight: 225 Position: Quarterback

Year: Senior

The Skinny: Will miss part of the season while recovering from a broken left ankle, which happened in a July pickup basketball game. Ranked by some scouting services as one of the top 10 quarterbacks in the country. Last year, he completed 115 of 186 for 2,020 yards and 24 touchdowns. Career stats: 246 of 402 for 3,980 yards passing, and 110 attempts for 483 yards rushing.

College Talk: Jones already has made a verbal commitment to Penn State.

What has been the toughest thing to deal with in your injury? Just not being part of everything. [Last week], I threw some with a boot on. I'm just so eager to get back out there.

Will your playing style change when you come back from the injury? No. I can't be worried at all about getting hurt.

Did the injury change you at all? I'd say not only did it make me appreciate what I can do on the field, it has made me understand why my mom and dad always are on me about academics. It puts in perspective how quickly football can be taken away. You need something to fall back on after sports.

If you weren't going to be a football player in the future, what would you be? An elementary school teacher. I like working with kids.

You have four brothers. What is the best thing about having brothers? Everything is a competition here. Who can eat the most, who can run the fastest. Everything. But it's all in fun.

Is your commitment to penn state still firm? I'd say so.

That doesn't sound too convincing. Has anything changed? Not really.

Does it bother you that penn state has recruited some other quarterbacks? Not really. There is going to be competition everywhere.

What would be your ultimate summer vacation? Anything without my cast.
